Family Pathway’s Beyond Behaviour programme equips professionals to build understanding of executive functioning across education, families and community services.
This practical facilitator-development programme explores how the developing brain affects planning, attention, working memory, organisation, emotional regulation, flexible thinking and the ability to begin and complete everyday tasks.
Participants learn to recognise the difference between knowing what to do and being able to do it, particularly when a person is overwhelmed, anxious, neurodivergent or managing complex environmental demands.
The programme moves professionals away from assumptions such as “they are not trying” or “they should be able to do this by now”. Instead, it develops the skills to identify the executive-function demands beneath learning, behaviour, routines and engagement—and to respond with practical, person-centred support.
Professionals are also supported to deliver accessible training within their own communities, including:
Making appointments, communication, forms, processes and support pathways easier to access.
Through interactive learning, case studies and reflective problem-solving, participants develop practical approaches that can be applied immediately.
When we understand the demands behind a task, we can stop asking why someone will not do it— and begin understanding what is making it difficult.
