Details Of The Course

When need is clearly understood, provision should follow logically. Learn how to translate Section 2A into precise, purposeful and deliverable ALP in Section 2B.

A strong IDP should show a clear line between the learner’s identified Additional Learning Needs and the Additional Learning Provision required to address them. Yet too often, Section 2A describes need broadly while Section 2B relies on generalised statements about support.

This practical masterclass focuses on strengthening the connection between what we know about the learner and what must actually be provided.

Participants will explore how to move from a meaningful description of ALN in Section 2A to ALP that is clear, specific and directly linked to identified need and intended outcomes.

The session will support participants to:
9

Strengthen the connection between Section 2A and Section 2B

9

Translate identified barriers and needs into appropriate ALP

9

Distinguish between broad descriptions of support and clearly specified provision

9

Develop ALP that is precise, purposeful and capable of being delivered consistently

9

Consider the nature, frequency, intensity and delivery of provision

9

Ensure ALP supports meaningful progress, participation and learner outcomes

9

Strengthen the clarity and accountability of IDPs

Participants will work through practical examples of vague and effective provision, exploring how stronger Section 2A analysis can lead to better Section 2B decision-making.

This session is particularly relevant for schools seeking to improve the quality and consistency of IDPs, strengthen the relationship between identified need and provision, and ensure that ALP is sufficiently clear to guide practice, review progress and make a tangible difference to the learner.

The key question is not simply, “What support can we offer?” but “What provision does this learner require because of the ALN identified in Section 2A?”
