Details Of The Workshop

Audience: Young people aged 14+, including learners in schools, colleges, alternative provision, employability programmes and community settings.

Recommended duration: Two hours

Delivery: Face-to-face, highly interactive workshop

Group size: Ideally 8–20 learners

Beyond Labels is a safe, interactive workshop supporting young people to explore identity, difference, belonging and LGBTQ+ inclusion.

The session helps learners understand that identity is made up of many interconnected parts and cannot be reduced to a single label. Through discussion, creative activities, lived-experience stories and realistic scenarios, learners examine how stereotypes, assumptions, language and peer
behaviour can affect how safe, accepted and valued someone feels.

The programme does not ask learners to disclose their sexuality, gender identity or personal experiences. Instead, it creates space for everyone to develop respectful language, challenge prejudice and build the confidence to become an active ally.

This is particularly important during adolescence, when peer acceptance, self-processing, identity and wellbeing become increasingly significant. Supportive friendships and inclusive environments can help protect young people’s confidence, belonging and emotional wellbeing.
